Dear friends,
A new video of Pastor Lim has been posted on CNN. Even in the short interview excerpt, we can see the exceedingly tight control that the authoritarian regime has placed on him. The guards are rough and condescending (ordering him to sit, stand, sit, stand, before walking out).
Pastor Lim was not allowed to respond to questions in English (he was only permitted to answer in Korean since he is being monitored). He is still barred from communicating with any of his family members or friends.
Why has the North Korean government allowed him to be interviewed? Considering that Pastor Lim's responses were most likely orchestrated by the government, this is probably an effort to propagate a false image of its treatment of Pastor Lim and other prisoners. We know from testimonies of former prisoners in North Korea that torture, abuse, and degradation are the norm in a North Korean cell.
Please continue to spread the word about this petition. Few of us have the courage and dedication to jeopardize our life and liberty for the sake of those in need. But all of us can help #bringlimhome #freepastorlim

We apologize that the initial title of this update, "New video of Pastor Lim released," was misleading to some supporters. Pastor Lim is still in prison, and no word from the Canadian government on a rescue plan yet. We take the comments to reflect our shared desire to see him set free - thank you.
